In the Almaty Region, Sugar Beet Crops Will Increase To 11.2 Thousand Hectars

On the eve of the sowing season, akim of Almaty region, Amandyk Batalov, held a meeting with farmers on the development of sugar beet farming in the region.

I must say that this year in the Almaty region sugar beet crops will increase to 11.2 thousand hectares, the planned collection will be more than 414.4 thousand tons, - the press service of the mayor of Almaty region informs.

Opening the meeting, Amandyk Batalov noted that thanks to state support and joint efforts last year, the gross harvest of sugar beet in the region amounted to 334 thousand tons, and this year it is planned to collect more than 414.4 thousand tons. In addition, processing issues are being actively addressed.

 “For 3 years, the Koksu Plant has been completely modernized, which allowed it to increase its productivity by several times. Now the Aksu plant is under reconstruction, it is a big and important work. As of October 1, the modernized enterprise will begin processing already on the new equipment. In addition, this year 7 more service and procurement centers will be additionally created in the region to provide the farmers with modern agricultural equipment. All support for the provision of high-quality seeds and low-cost diesel fuel is also provided,” A.Batalov noted.

Addressing the processors, the head of the region stressed that all beets should be processed and it is important to always pay peasants for the delivered crop on time.

Further, the deputy akim of the region Serikzhan Beskempirov made a report on the preparation for the spring field work.

According to S. Beskempirov, last year 5 service-procurement centers were created in the region, 114 units of agricultural equipment were acquired. Also 14 thousand seed units of sugar beet seeds of French and German quality were purchased. In general, 1.5 billion tenge was allocated from the regional budget for these purposes.

Work in this direction continued. According to the speaker, this year 11.5 thousand hectares were plowed to achieve the goal. According to applications from beet-growing farms of the region, 16,775 sugar beet seeds, including 3480 of new resistant hybrids of seeds “Tisserin” and “Igor” included in the state registry of 2017. As for the 7 service and procurement centers, they were established this year in Aksu, Alakol, Karatal, Sarkand districts and the city of Kapshagay. For these purposes, 1.7 billion tenge was allocated from the regional budget. 132 units of agricultural equipment were purchased.

The purchase price for 1 ton of sugar beet will be 17 thousand tenge, of which 8 thousand tenge is paid by the plant, 9 thousand tenge is paid through the regional department of agriculture in the form of subsidies.

During the meeting, Altynbek Abatov, Director of the Koksu Sugar Plant, and Murat Tolegenov, Director of the Aksu Sugar Plant, spoke at the meeting.

In turn, the heads of the beet-growing farms, thanking for their assistance, raised a number of questions, including support in purchasing special equipment for cleaning sugar beet from stones, the possibility of creating a hardwood field in the Shengeldi rural district, and purchasing additional KAMAZ trucks for the area for transportation. It is also necessary to pay attention to the irrigation system and modernization of pumping stations in the same Shengeldi rural district.

As the regional akim emphasized, each question will be considered in detail and will find the necessary support, primarily in terms of purchasing special equipment and providing irrigation water.
